Shrink film, also called shrink wrap, is a plastic film that shrinks when exposed to heat. There are two main types of shrink film: Polyolefin and PVC.
Polyolefin is currently the most popular type of shrink film being used in the packaging industry. It is more durable than PVC and also retains less odor. This makes polyolefin shrink film and equipment a good choice for packing food items.
PVC, which is short for polyvinyl chloride, has been around for many years before polyolefin was developed. It is more prone to wear and tear compared to polyolefin. PVC shrink film and equipment, however, make for a more affordable packaging solution.
