
According to the Georgia Center of Innovation for Logistics 2012 First Quarter Report, there is a positive growth in the United States’ economy.
Logistics has gained 4.7% overall net in employment, wherein there were 10,600 additional employees hired in the first quarter of 2012. Shipping Index increased by 3.5%, while the Expenditure Index rose by 9.8 % over the year. Import and export volumes also increased, as well as the Import-Export Price Index.
The warehousing industry also gains a positive growth for during the first quarter. Therefore the average distribution and warehouse rental rate was adjusted to an average of $4.70 per square foot. The purchasing index also gained some positive progress. Accordingly, these numbers indicate an overall expansion in the economy.
