The safety manager of a major cosmetics manufacturer recently improved the safety of the company’s warehouse by installing pallet rack safety netting and a pallet stop system, according to a news report. The undisclosed company’s manager chose a system that protected both products and employees by limiting the space pallets of products could be moved. Steel stops prevent pallets from being pushed off the shelf while plastic netting ensured that loose items couldn’t fall into aisle or flue areas between racks. The pallet stops were offset by three inches behind the shelves so that standard 42-inch shelves could balance conventional 48-inch pallets safely. The plastic netting was then attached to the pallet stops, resulting in a vertical “wall” that contains loose parts and boxes.
