A new type of ergonomic order selector rack uses a sliding drawer system to make it easier to pick cases located in hard-to-reach places on pallets.
The Glide ‘N Pick order selector rack was unveiled by Frazier Industrial during the recent Modex materials handling trade show, held earlier this year in Atlanta, Georgia. The system uses a sliding drawer and is cart based so that it can be pulled forward to access cases stored on the back half of a pallet, according to Domenick Iellimo, vice president at Frazier Industrial.
“The solution is engineered to make pallet-sized case picking easier for pickers by making hard to reach cases on the pallet accessible,” Iellimo told Modern Materials Handling.
A locking mechanism keeps the cart from rolling into the aisle until about half the pallet has been unloaded, according to Iellimo.
“The same latch prevents the cart from sliding back into the rack should a picker lean against it,” he said.
The unit is designed t be installed directly on to existing shelf beams and is made entirely out of structural steel. The Glide ‘N Pick order selector rack also uses a spring-loaded backrest to prevent a pallet’s contents from falling off the back of the rack.
