Majority of the participants in a recent study conducted by the Material Handling Industry of America (MHIA) believe that social responsibility is the main driver behind supply chain sustainability efforts.
About half of the respondents in MHIA’s research study on “Sustainability in Warehousing, Distribution and Manufacturing” have ongoing projects on supply chain sustainability.
Many of the respondents also believe that automatic identification, totes, containers, lift trucks and several other material handling equipment and technologies contribute to environmental stability.
The MHIA research study aims to increase public awareness of the advantages and difficulties regarding the enforcement of sustainability initiatives. It also attempts to define the general state of environmental sustainability in the warehousing, distribution and manufacturing industries.
