The Intermodal Association of North America (IANA) will hold its annual trade and industry expo September 21 to 23 at the Long Beach Convention Center. The expo is an important North American intermodal supply chain event where the industry’s leading products and services are showcased and the industry’s issues and challenges are examined.
This year’s expo will feature twice as many educational sessions thanks to IANA’s partnerships with the AAR, FTR and TIA, according to the expo’s website. It also will feature a revised format with opening sessions and breakfast for attendees on each day, as well as a dialogue box featuring continuing discussions from educational sessions and other industry issues.
The fact that the event is being held in Long Beach, site of one of the West Coast’s biggest ports for intermodal cargo containers, is no accident, according to IANA president and CEO Joni Casey.
“The San Pedro port complex is the epicenter for US imports and is likely to remain so for the foreseeable future,” Casey said. “Long Beach is a natural venue for the intermodal expo which will feature educational sessions focusing on the competitiveness of West Coast ports, the work that has been done by the (Port of Long Beach) on chassis provisioning models and trucker terminal productivity issues.”
