Lights… Camera… Action!

If the movie biz understands the importance of lighting then how important do you think it is to your daily operations? You can never underestimate the importance of lighting. Ever. Lighting appears to be an afterthought, something which serves a small yet insignificant role which is, of course, not true. When you are attempting to complete a job (example: out in the field, after hours) and you do not have the proper lighting it doesn’t take long for you to understand how much you miss it. Consequently, do not make the mistake of having a shortage of lighting equipment.

Portable lighting equipment is essential for a facilities maintenance department. Fittingly, portable lights are sold in various sizes and shapes, some fulfilling a specific purpose (such as hanging), all of which help you get a job done in a hard to see place or after-hours. What light do you need for your job?

Bulb

The first decision you need to make when shopping for warehouse lighting is what type of bulb you’ll go with. You can mix and match, yet most consumers will usually settle on one type of bulb based on individual preference. Traditional bulbs are still being sold and used for portable lighting yet it is slowly being taken over by LCD and LED lighting which is not only considered stronger, yet also uses less energy. Fluorescent bulbs are still sold as well.

Purpose

Floor lights. Hanging Lights. Water-Resistant Lights. Dirt-Resistant Lights. The list goes on and on. Warehouse lighting is offered for a variety of purposes depending on the job. If you can afford to pay extra, it’s always a good idea to invest in water or dirt-resistant lights. It’s also not a bad idea to have floor and hanging lights on-hand depending on the job. Lights are sold in a variety of sizes depending on exactly how much light you need at the work site.

Size

The size of your lighting is broken down into two different categories: the actual, physical size of the light and the power which it requires to generate the necessary light. The first category comes down to individual preference. Do you mind lugging around a massive light or would you prefer something compact and portable? The second category, meanwhile, also impacts your wallet. The more power it needs to generate the higher your electrical bill. Consequently, more and more consumers are turning to LED and eco-friendly lights for the job site.
