Despite its numerous lift codes, narrow aisle forklifts are generally grouped into three main types: reach trucks, turret trucks and order pickers.
Reach trucks are operated manually and their wheels are made of hard plastic. They are used for arranging pallets in stacks that are several meters high.
Turret trucks have a higher vertical reach — as high as 15 meters — compared to reach trucks. They can also squeeze through very narrow aisles. Their forks are attached to a turret that swivels and allows the machine to access the storage racks on each side of an aisle.
Order pickers or stock pickers are used to pick up stored goods and transport them to other areas. Like turret trucks, order pickers are slim enough to easily pass through very narrow aisles.
